Lakes and Rivers Photo Gallery

Traveling is something I love to do.
Contrary to what some of my friends and family think, I do find places to go to other than the local marsh for Birding. Some of these places along with the local marshes, can be found here. There is a variety of landscapes from across Canada present. Whether it is the hoodoo's and coolies of Alberta, too a lake in Northern Ontario, and or a rural meadow where I listen for owls. There is a variety of special and beautiful places in this country, and I try to bring these natural spaces to others.

    Looking for a Comet...

Back on the road! Unfortunately the Jeep has been grounded due Chrysler refusing to honour recalls. The saga dragged on for about 3 weeks. This is one of the first opportunities in almost a month to get the Jeep back out on the road! Apparently we even had a KP 4 solar storm that night.

The extra compression, and that reach are not always for just birds and animals.

    Broken Storm

Thunderstorms, Thunderstorms, and more Thunderstorms. Or so the weather network would make us believe... Driving down 11, the storm broke up over lake Nipissing, giving us this. Lake Nipissing is a beautiful, shallow and sandy lake. There are some beautiful year round cottages around parts of it.

    Twilight on the Rocks

Twilight on the Rocks Doesn't take a lot to twist my arm and get me outdoors taking photos. My siblings and I have turned the Inverhuron trip into an annual trip. It isn't back country, but it is outside. It is a great park, and if back country camping isn't your thing you should look into it. The only beach I have been to, is the most northern beach which I love. It is very rocky. I love photographing the rocks for sunsets, and out further into the lake they are interesting to photograph under water. Thinking about an ultra wide lens? I get a lot of use out of the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8. Shooting directly into a bright light source is going to make it flare. It isn't the sharpest at F2.8, drop it down to F4 and it is very sharp. If you are considering an Ultra-wide, I do caution you about the Ultra-Wides since they are incredibly wide. Little things like it is easy to get your tripod legs into the shot, and you often need to have something in the foreground to help build the shot.
