  • Trail at Rattlesnake Point

    Trail at Rattlesnake Point

The High Canopy above was sheltering us from the driving rain. One of those days were the rain gear for us and our gear was a requirement. But, gotta love afternoon hikes in the driving rain.

  • The Road Less Traveled

    The Road Less Traveled

This clearing had some interesting surprises. The turkey vultures were soaring, and gliding really low through this clearing. It had a break to the lake, so the vultures were catching breezes, diving into the clearing and gliding out over the lake. Of course one of the sixteen were not like the others, a lone confused osprey found itself keeping up with the vultures. The meandering winding road through the marsh really is the road less traveled. These roads are only open to conservation staff, and during hunting season. The rest of the time we are hiking on them to get to our destination, but makes for an easy hike.

  • Oasis of Light

    Oasis of Light

Sometimes the old roads lead you through an Oasis of Light. The clearing here is an interesting little spot. There is a creek near by that a weasel hunts. Deer often drift and meander through. The skies above have vultures soaring over head. The odd Osprey can also be found drifting on the wind headed to the lake. As I walk these roads I usually have Bertha on the camera, and my grandfathers old Helios 44M in my pocket. I love that old Helios lens. The Helios 44M is an F2 lens that is tiny, and built pretty tough. It is a great normal lens for landscapes and general use.

  • Forgotten Paths

    Forgotten Paths

Grey County has lots of wonderful roads like this. Most have had a bit of a face lift recently. Often they wind and meander through beautiful forests, with the light cascading through the leaves of the canopies above the road.

    Down the Rabbit Hole

Some of the roads up in grey county have these beautiful forested canopies. The roads themselves have had a face lift in recent times.

And the lights in the sky did not Dance.

Massive solar storm, was hoping desperately for a break in the cloud cover. Unfortunately the storm clouds were fairly solid, and so no Northern Lights that night. However beautiful little towns like Flesherton Ontario were great subjects.

  • Almost there...

    Almost there...

Welcome, to Winding Ways Photography. The name is inspired by the meandering trails I find myself wandering. I am a Canadian photographer whose efforts stem from a desire to bring natural places to everyone. If you are interested in one of my images as a print, they are available in a variety of sizes and styles. My family and friends call me a birder. I'm not sure that is a fair description for me, as I am just as likely to chase mammals as well. It also doesn't take much effort to twist my arm into getting outside to track the coyotes and mink out back, or the owls in the woods. You may also follow my photography on one of these sites: Windingways on Facebook | Winding Ways on Flickr!

The back meadow where the horses used to roam is a magical place at the old family farm.
