Black Bear Foraging

Black Bear that was trying to keep a low profile, while foraging in the grasses and ferns.

Grazing by the Beaver Pond

Bull Moose from Algonquin Provincial Park. The Moose was grazing in the long grasses near the pond. The ears were constantly working to locate sounds. Camera shutters seemed to be rather alien to it.

Glamour Shot Portrait of a Snapping Turtle in a garden. I was calling it a day at the Luther Marsh. The light was just about gone, when I ran into her. She was up on the berm having pulled herself out of the lake not long before. Just sitting there waiting for me to pass. Could not resist this shot, with the dandelions in the background!

The Huntress

This girl was stealthily moving through the grass, stalking mice. When I first saw the grey back break the grass, I stopped and watched. She slinked through the grass stopping occasionally to look and watch. One of the things that amazed me was her size. She was a big girl.

The twins and mom, on Alert. I was on an old dirt road looking for wildlife when I found two does, and three fawns. I pulled over onto the shoulder to take photos of this family out the window. I am patiently waiting, and watching as they drift into the better light. A blue pickup truck rolls up beside me. I get a glare, and then he drives off with a bit of a roar. This is the last shot, before the tails go up and they bolt over the hill.

Beans, or Apples? Breakfast of Champions! We usually always have deer out in the woods out back, and in the meadow. Its funny how the ones out in the rural areas are so wary of us, yet the ones in the city you can practically pet. The old apple tree is always a favourite spot for the deer. I try to get outdoors as much as possible. The deer and the birds out back are usually a reliable source of photographic subjects. Luckily the deer get out during the good light, unlike the coyotes!

The Fearless Hunter I heard rumour of a family of coyotes having a den up the creek (1-2 km), not to far from the old family farm. This of course explains why the foxes and my deer have relocated. The coyotes when they are around tend to use the creek as their own personal highway. The foxes and Deer have yielded the right of way.
